Caring For Your jewellery

Caring for your handmade statement earrings is simple, they need just a little care and attention and will last a lifetime.

Store your handcrafted jewellery properly: One of the most important things you can do to keep these colourful statement earrings looking good as new is to store them properly. Store your jewellery in a clean place away from moisture. Ideally you can use a jewellery box with compartments or individual pouches for each piece. Avoid storing multiple pieces of jewellery together as they can scratch each other. Try to avoid contact with oils, creams, perfumes and make up.

Keep your jewellery clean: If you do experience stains such as make up you can use a tiny drop of nail polish remover on a Q tip and very gently remove. This is ideal for the back and sides of each piece. If the front surface you can clean them with a soft damp cloth.

Caring for brass additions: Since brass is usually made of a combination of zinc and copper, it can often tarnish, or oxidize over time. This can be caused by the oils in your skin, the air's oxygen, and humidity.⁠ The easiest way, if you have ketchup in your fridge (or cupboard, what’s that all about?!🫣), is to do the following:⁠⁠ Dab some ketchup on a clean soft cloth and rub over tarnished brass. Then wipe clean with a damp cloth and buff dry.⁠ Good as new ✨⁠

Take off your jewellery before swimming or showering: Exposure to water can damage your handmade earring. Chlorine, saltwater and even showering can cause discoloration and tarnishing. So, make sure to take off your jewellery before getting into the water. 💦

Handle your jewellery with care: When you're wearing jewellery, be careful not to knock it against hard surfaces or pull it too hard. Also, avoid wearing jewellery when doing activities that involve a lot of movement, such as sports or exercising. Polymer clay is very durable but may break or scratch if bent or stored loose in your handbag.
